Featuring QUITAPENAS
This year, we are excited to announce California-based QUITAPENAS as our headline entertainment!
QUITAPENAS, one word – all caps, four syllables – all claps, gives you a taste of their rhythmic contagion. This tropical Afro-Latin combo was born under the warm California sun. They borrow aesthetics from the musically radical 60s, 70s and 80s. Each song echoes a remix of history and invites one to engage in the liberating evenings of Angola, Peru, Colombia, Brazil and beyond. The name means “to remove worries.” Everybody has a “pena” and the mission of QUITAPENAS is simple: to make you dance and leave you without a worry. The group is made up of first generation son’s of immigrant parents from Guatemala and Mexico.

Join us for delicious food, music, and entertainment to support Immigrant Legal Center + Refugee Empowerment Center's work empowering immigrants and refugees to live confidently and free from fear. This year, we are returning to The Slowdown for what promises to be the best Food Truck World Tour yet!

- Our incredible social workers tackle our clients' emotional and social needs, helping them better integrate into our communities.
- Our resettlement experts provide unbeatable care with warmth and expertise for more than 400 individuals each year.
Our clients include individuals from over 60 different countries — including those fleeing war zones, experiencing domestic violence, families seeking asylum, and children who arrived at the US/Mexico border without a parent or guardian.

EVENT DETAILS
Food Truck World Tour is a one-of-a-kind event that brings together some of Omaha's best food trucks and live entertainment to raise money for immigrants and refugees in our community. We are proud to say that 100% of the proceeds from this event go directly to support our free immigration legal services, refugee resettlement work , and social work services.
The 2023 event fundraising goal is $250,000. 400+ Estimated Attendance.
